Mothering Sunday or Mother’s Day
Mothering Sunday or Mother’s Day is held on March 30. United Kingdom, Western Christianity; celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent: Guernsey, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Nigeria. This event in the third decade of the month March is annual.

Traditionally, it was a day when children, mainly daughters, who had gone to work as domestic servants were given a day off to visit their mother and family. Mothering Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Lent. Although it's often called Mothers' Day it has no connection with the American festival of that name.
Anna Jarvis was one of 13 children, only four of whom lived to adulthood. Anna Jarvis's campaign for a special day to celebrate mothers was one she inherited from her own mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis. Mrs Jarvis had spent her life mobilising mothers to care for their children, says historian Katharine Antolini, and she wanted mothers' work to be recognised.
