On this day, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in 2003 adopted the Law on Farming.
Farmer's Day was established on June 18, 2020 by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, given the importance of farms for the development of agriculture in Ukraine, their contribution to addressing food security issues. The draft Presidential Decree on the establishment of the Farmer's Day was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on June 3, 2020.
