Educational Support Professionals’ Day in US

Education Support Professionals (ESP) Day is November! Join us to celebrate and advocate for the amazing school support staff who continue to go above and beyond for our school communities.

Approximately 57% of ESPs in K-12 have an Associate Degree or a more advanced degree. Approximately 94% of ESPs in higher education have an Associates's or a more advanced degree. About 61% of ESPs plan to stay in their field until retirement.

Educational Support Professionals Day was created to honour and appreciate the efforts of ESPs to public education institutions. It takes place during American Education Week, a week-long celebration honouring ESPs with holidays and celebrations. In the United States, the National Education Association (NEA) established the day. The National Education Association was founded in 1857 and was originally known as the National Teachers Association (NTA). It was founded when ten state education associations banded together to pool their resources and efforts in order to better serve students through an effective public education model. The NTA was renamed the National Education Association in 1870. In the 1980s, the Association recognised ESPs as important players in public education and granted them full membership rights in the NEA.
