Iris Day in Belgium
Iris Day in Belgium is held on May 8. The Festival of Irises a regional holiday and a weekend in the Brussels-capital region in honor of the flowering period of Iris pseudacorus, which is a symbol of the region. It is also Victory Day over the Nazis during World War II and the feast of the Archangel Saint-Michel, the patron saint of Brussels. This event in the first decade of the month May is annual.

The Iris Festival is the annual and official celebration of the Brussels-Capital Region in Belgium. Iris Fest is a relatively new festival, as the Brussels-Capital Region only came into existence following the federalization of Belgium in 1989.
During the multi-day party, free concerts, street entertainment and all kinds of activities are organized for the general public. Some monuments are exceptionally accessible to the public, and a food truck festival takes place on this day. Many of the weekend's proceedings are held in the city's central square, the Place du Grand Sablon.
It is the day of the victory against Nazi Germany during World War II.
Feast days in other regions of Belgium include Feast Day of the Flemish Community, Feast Day of the French Community, Feast Day of the German-Speaking Community , and Walloon Regional Day . The festival's main symbol, the iris plant, has been the region's official emblem since 1991.
