Honiara (a capital and main port of the state) may be the hub of special events and what little commercialisation of Christmas that exists in Solomon Islands, but most people associate Christmas with home life. Most churches will hold Christmas services, and public Christmas events may also be held in community halls.
In many other countries around the world, 26 December is known as Boxing Day or Saint Stephen’s Day. But in Solomon Islands, it is designated as National Day of Thanksgiving.
