The Peruvian Army Day was established during the government of President Augusto B. Leguía on September 18, 1928 by supreme resolution. It is commemorated every December 9, by virtue of the triumph of the Peruvian battalion in the Battle of Ayacucho, which occurred in 1824. Today, December 9, peruvians remember the anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho the day of Peruvian Army, the nation's tutelary institution, which has been present in every transformation that country has undergone.
