Kathy Chamberlin of Hopkinton, NH and Debby Hoffman of Concord, NH created National Compliment Day in 1998. In the global initiative to create the most positive day in the world, World Compliment Day is celebrated every March 1 to spread joy through simple verbal affirmations of appreciation.
On this day, take the time to give someone a genuine, pure hearted compliment. Compliments also build trust between people.
While it is usually easy for us to find compliments for those that we like, it can be more challenging to compliment someone that we can barely tolerate. On this day, find a compliment for them today as well. If you just cannot possibly find a compliment for them, then it is best not to say anything. Does this sound like something your mom would say? There is no limit on how many compliments to give today but a common suggestion is at least five compliments to five different people.
