Christmas Jumper Day
Christmas Jumper Day is held on December 14. This event in the second decade of the month December is annual. Help us
It's believed that our beloved Christmas jumpers can be traced back to Scandinavia and Iceland, where they were knitted by hand and designed to keep people warm and cosy during the cold winters. In the United Kingdom, Christmas jumpers became popular during the 1980s after a variety of television presenters such as Gyles Brandreth and Timmy Mallett began wearing them during the Christmas holidays.
Snowflake-emblazoned sweaters weren't considered cool, but they radiated yule, and were sported at office parties and on Christmas Day.
Christmas Jumper Day is back again this year to help raise money for Save The Children, a charity which helps youngsters all over the world. Although the idea of wearing festive jumpers around Christmas time is nothing new, Save the Children launched their official Christmas Jumper Day in 2012 as a way to raise money for projects they fund which help children around the world build a better future.
An exciting time to be in London, where the morning commute is filled with people wearing over the top sweaters, full of Christmas cheer. This annual event has become a bit of a tradition, where you find the most outrageous jumper you can find and actually get away with it at work.
