The earliest known Jewellery was actually created not by humans (Homo sapiens) but by Neanderthal living in Europe. Specifically, perforated beads made from small sea shells have been found dating to 115,000 years ago in the Cueva de los Aviones, a cave along the southeast coast of Spain.
While jewellery does have a deeper meaning than just a material fashion statement, it is still a way for us to adorn ourselves with something beautiful and precious. Jewellery can lift our mood, make us feel amazing about ourselves and also serve as a way for us to express our unique sense of style.
