Nutella is a brand of sweetened hazelnut cocoa spread. Nutella is manufactured by the Italian company Ferrero and was first introduced in 1964, although its first iteration dates to 1963. In 1963, Ferrero's son Michele Ferrero revamped Supercrema gianduja with the intention of marketing it throughout Europe.
Each jar of Nutella contains approximately 52 hazelnuts. Apart from sugar and fats, Nutella is rich in chocolate. Chocolate contains addictive substances; one of these substances is tryptophan. Tryptophan is an amino acid that is a precursor to serotonin, a neurotransmitter involved in regulating moods.
The product was an instant success and remains widely popular. Nutella is available in a total of 160 countries. The Ferrero company also owns the candy brand Tic Tac. Michele Ferrero passed away at the age of 89 in 2015, but his brainchild continues to delight us today.
