The history of peanut butter begins with, of course, peanuts, which are not nuts, but legumes, like peas and beans. It got its name because of the hard, nut-like shell and pea-like appearance. The average person will eat 2,984 PB&Js in their lifetime. It takes about 540 peanuts to make a 12-ounce jar of peanut butter. By law, any product labeled “peanut butter” in the United States must be at least 90 percent peanuts.
Why is Lobster Thermidor called that? It gets its name from Napoléon Bonaparte who named it after the day he was first served it – Thermidor. This comes from the French Revolutionary Calendar as it was in the 1800s. The second story is that it was created in 1894 by a Parisian restaurant called Marie's.
