Several events related to French gastronomy were created before it became a national initiative. As early as 2003, the Francine flour brand organized a three-day annual "Cuisines en Fête" event that celebrated both professional and amateur cooking. Each edition gathered more than 700,000 participants through more than 900 events in France.
The Fête de la Gastronomie - Goût de France is an initiative of the Ministry of Economy launched in 2011, proposed as a major safeguard to the French gastronomic meal inscribed on the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010 by UNESCO.
It takes place everywhere in France and in the world on the fourth weekend of September. During three days, events take place in a spirit of conviviality, sharing and education: indeed, the gastronomic meal emphasizes the pleasure of taste and sharing the meal, highlighting the harmony between man and the productions of nature. The Fête de la Gastronomie is held in a spirit of celebration of culinary tradition and preservation of the French gastronomic heritage.
