Old Panama Day or Panama Viejo Day is held on August 15. In 1519, the first Spanish colony and the oldest European settlement, Panama Viejo, was founded on the Pacific coast in Central America. This event in the second decade of the month August is annual.

This world historical heritage, Panama la Vieja, was founded by Pedro Arias Dávila, on August 15, 1519 and at the beginning it received the name of Our Lady of the Assumption of Panama.
Old Panama was the first Spanish city founded in Panama on the Pacific Ocean, on August 15, 1519, by Pedro Arias Ávila. It was the city from which the expeditions for the conquest of the Inca Empire of Peru departed in 1532.
The Old Panama Monumental Complex is an excellent tourist place to appreciate the historical structures of the first Spanish city founded in Panama. Here you can enjoy a viewpoint where you can see part of the city of Panama and if you wish you can buy typical handicrafts from Panama. Panama La Vieja was declared a Historic Monumental Site on December 22, 1976.
