Most Chinese teenagers have computers, smart phones and are very Westernized and active online. One study found that 45 percent of Chinese urban residents are at risk to health problems due to stress, with the highest rates among high school students. Extensive school attendance and nonfamily employment have set the youth free from absolute parental authority and much family responsibility. Teenage subcultures have emerged as well. In China, there is one sure way to get ahead and that is through education.
