Cuba celebrates Educator's Day on December 22, in recognition of the educational work treasured by the Cuban Revolution. On December 22, 1961, in the Plaza de la Revolución, Fidel announced the culmination of the Literacy Campaign and Cuba was proclaimed an Illiteracy Free Territory.
