The West Country Carnival Circuits are an annual celebration featuring a parade of illuminated carts in the English West Country.
Somerset carnivals are the highlight of the year for locals. The ritual dates back to at least the 1600s, when many parts of the county commemorated the Gunpowder Plot.
The Somerset Carnivals are highly regarded as the largest illuminated procession in the world. The carnivals take place every November in Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Glastonbury, North Petherton, Shepton Mallet, Wells, and Weston-Super-Mare. The next Bridgwater Carnival will be on Sat 5th Nov 2022.
