It was introduced by the Government of India in 2014. The day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel who had a major role in the political integration of India. The day is observed with patriotic events to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He is popularly known as the “Iron Man of India”.
National unity is a situation whereby people of diverse cultures, religions, language, political, social and economic systems are brought together to have a common goal. The people have mutual understanding, love, co-operation and trust among themselves.
