National hug day is traditionally observed by students and youth. In far distant seventies this amazing initiative appeared. It was some kind of protest against instantly growing social tension in those years.
Simple friendly hugs may encourage and support, get one in a good mood and comfort. Life today is full of cares and troubles, full of stress. According to psychologists hugging someone is a proper method of emotional support. Friendly hugs can be of great benefit to a person in trouble.
Tolerance and wisdom , ability to change someone’s life for better is a real gift. Very often we ask ourselves what can we do? Disinterestedness and friendliness, openness and kindness are the answer. We should remember that all these qualities are in our nature and use them.
“When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.” Henri J.M. Nouwen
On this wonderful day we hug everyone we love, appreciate and also those whom we don’t know, but want to support. We congratulate all NOT indifferent people on this kind holiday!
