Engineer's Day is celebrated in honor of the events of 1855 and is considered the birthday of modern engineering education in Argentina.
The then president, Carlos Enrique Pellegrini in 1855, proposed to the rector of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) to create the Engineering career. In 1870 the race had its first graduate.
