In Armenia, June 14 (the day of the deportation in 1949 to the Altai Territory of about 15,000 Armenians from Armenia alone) is celebrated as the Day of Remembrance of the innocently repressed.
Stalinist repressions in post-Soviet Armenia were officially condemned and presented in the landscape of “solid” memory in the form of a memorial stone, and then a complex (opened in 2007, architect J. Torosyan). The law of 1994 provided social benefits to the repressed and their descendants.
