In Ireland, the June Holiday (sometimes called the June Bank Holiday, Irish: Lá Saoire i mí an Mheithimh) is observed on the first Monday of June. It was previously observed as Whit Monday until 1973.
Summer officially kicks off as the Kildare Derby Festival rides into town, hot on the heels of the county’s much-loved June Fest. Since 1978 every June, Kildare Town hosts their annual Festival in conjunction with the Irish Derby. This includes Music, Derby Legends Museum, Derby Legends Talks, Arts, Crafts, Sports, Historical Walks and Webinars.
