Apart from International Labour Day May 1 is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm across the state of Gujarat. This day is honoured by the people of Gujarat as it marks the remembrance of the struggle done by people to have a separate state of Gujarat. Two new states were born on this day of the year 1960 namely Maharashtra and Gujarat Day.
Maharashtra is one of the wealthiest state in India and it is also the most industrialized state. It is the third largest state by area and second most populous state in India. Maharashtra has two capitals. Mumbai is the first capital (summer season) and Nagpur is the second capital in winter season.
