Salzburg Dult

The Salzburger Dult is a traditional folk festival and fair with a long history dating back to the Middle Ages. Originally, the Dult was a church festival associated with the name day of a saint. Over time, its significance developed into a fair with a folk festival character.

History: The Dult was first mentioned in 1331 and originally took place around Salzburg Cathedral. It was later extended to other squares in the old town. In the 19th century, the Dult was moved to Mirabellplatz and eventually discontinued. It was revived after the Second World War and was held at the Salzburg Exhibition Center in Liefering from 1974.
