On December 27, 2024, according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 883/2024, In order to strengthen the unity and harmony of the Ukrainian people, strengthen the Ukrainian national and civic identity, promote the free development of cultural diversity of indigenous peoples and national minorities (communities) of Ukraine, show respect for their contribution to the defense of state sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, in the armed struggle against the aggressor state. ..., a new public holiday was introduced - the Day of Interethnic Harmony and Cultural Diversity. This holiday, which will be celebrated annually on May 21, aims to strengthen the unity of the Ukrainian people, to affirm national and civic identity, and to support the development of cultural diversity of indigenous peoples and national minorities of Ukraine.
The holiday demonstrates respect for the contribution of national communities to the defense of Ukraine's state sovereignty and independence, especially during the armed struggle against the aggressor state.
May 21 will be not only a day to celebrate the diversity of Ukrainian culture, but also a reminder of the importance of tolerance, mutual respect and joint efforts to build a peaceful society.
This new holiday can unite people of different nationalities, encouraging the preservation of cultural traditions and emphasizing the power of unity in diversity.
