The Wolfsburg Schützen- und Volksfest, also known as the “Rummel”, is an annual folk festival in Wolfsburg. It is considered the largest folk festival between the Harz Mountains and the Heath and is organized on a voluntary basis by the members of the Wolfsburg Shooting Society.
History: The festival was first held in 1951 as a traditional shooting festival and has been celebrated as a folk and shooting festival since 1956. Initially it took place on Rothenfelder Markt, later in front of the town hall and from 1973 to 1979 at the cultural center. Since 1980, it has been held in the Allerpark.
Highlights: Highlights of the festival include the light installation “Aller in Flammen” on the first day and a large firework display on the penultimate day. Every year, the majesties are proclaimed at the festival. The festival attracts around 400,000 visitors every year, with a peak of around 450,000 visitors in 2016.
Special features: The festival offers a mixture of traditional shooting events and modern attractions. There are top-class live concerts and a varied program in the marquee. In recent years, well-known bands such as City, Karat and Münchener Freiheit have performed.
The Wolfsburg Schützen- und Volksfest is not only a highlight for the residents of Wolfsburg, but also attracts visitors from the entire region. It is a celebration of community and tradition that inspires anew every year.
