The Frühjahrssend in Münster is a traditional folk festival that takes place every year on the Schlossplatz. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, when it began in 1035 as a church consecration festival for the dedication of St. Paul's Cathedral. The name “Send” is derived from “synod”, which refers to an assembly of clergy and leading representatives of the diocese.
The Send offers a wide range of rides, from classic attractions such as the Ferris wheel and bumper cars to modern experiences. Culinary delights are also provided: visitors can look forward to a variety of traditional and international dishes. A special highlight is the big firework display, which usually lights up the sky at around 9 pm.
On Family Day, which traditionally takes place on Thursday, there are discounts on all rides and stalls, making the Send particularly attractive for families. The Spring Send is a festival for young and old and attracts numerous visitors every year.
