The Michaelis-Kirchweih in Fürth, often referred to as the “Queen of Franconian church fairs”, is one of the largest and oldest street festivals in Germany. For over 900 years, it has attracted around 1.5 million visitors from near and far every fall.
The highlight of the Kirchweih is the colorful parade that runs through the entire city center of Fürth and is watched by thousands of people. The procession is broadcast live on Bavarian television and offers a spectacular sight.
At the Kirchweih, visitors can expect numerous rides, food stalls and market stalls that stretch along Fürther Freiheit to Königsplatz and ensure a colorful and lively hustle and bustle.
In 2018, the Michaelis-Kirchweih was added to the list of intangible cultural heritage, which underlines its long tradition and cultural significance.
