The Wendsche Kärmetze has a long tradition dating back to 1482. Originally, it was a cattle market where farmers from the surrounding area sold their animals. Over time, the market developed into a folk festival that attracted more and more visitors. Today, the Wendsche Kärmetze is the largest folk festival in South Westphalia and attracts around 300,000 visitors from near and far every year.

The name "Wendsche Kärmetze" comes from the Low German word "Kärmetze", which means "fair". The Wendsche Kärmetze is also known beyond the borders of Germany and attracts visitors from the Netherlands, Belgium and even France.

Rides: Wendsche Kärmetze offers a wide range of rides to suit every taste, from fast-paced rollercoasters to leisurely carousels. The "Sky Tower" offers a breathtaking view over the entire fairground and the surrounding area. The "wild water ride" provides a refreshing cool-down on hot days.

Visitors can put their driving skills to the test on the bumper cars and compete against each other. The "ghost train" provides a thrill with all sorts of creepy things to discover. Of course, there is also a special children's carousel for younger visitors.

In addition to the rides, there are also numerous market stalls at the Wendsche Kärmetze where you can buy all kinds of treats and souvenirs.

Live performances by bands and musicians take place on several stages during the fair. On the last evening of the fair, a large firework display lights up the night sky over Wenden.
