The Herbstlibori dates back to 1627. It commemorates the return of the relics of St. Liborius, patron saint of the city and diocese of Paderborn, stolen by Duke Christian of Brunswick (known as "The Great Christian"). Since then, the Autumn Libori has been celebrated every year on the weekend before All Saints' Day. Initially it was a purely religious festival, but over time it developed into a folk festival with a funfair, music and dancing.
Fairground mile: On the 400-metre-long fairground mile on the Liboriberg, over 60 showmen offer a wide range of rides, stalls and treats for young and old.
Libori Society Lecture: The traditional Libori Society Lecture takes place on the first Friday of the Autumn Libori.
Strolling and shopping: In Paderborn city center, numerous stores invite you to stroll and shop.
Enjoy the city: In addition to the hustle and bustle of the fair, the Autumn Libori also offers the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Paderborn. Visit Paderborn Cathedral, the town hall or take a stroll around Lake Lippe.
Today, the Herbstlibori is one of the largest public festivals in East Westphalia and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to Paderborn every year.
