The Fritzlar horse market, also known as the "Fritzlarer Pferdemarkt", is one of the most important town and folk festivals in Fritzlar. It has been held in this North Hessian town for over 100 years. The event includes a market, an amusement park and the largest Hessian horse show with district and county animal shows. A special highlight is the closing firework display on Sunday.
There are some delicious specialties at the Fritzlar horse market that you should definitely try:
Ahle Wurst: This smoked, air-dried sausage from northern Hesse is a real classic. It is often served with bread and mustard.
Potato pancakes: These crispy potato pancakes are a popular snack at folk festivals. You can enjoy them with apple sauce or herb quark.
Bratwurst: A hearty grilled bratwurst is always a good choice. It goes well with a fresh roll and mustard.
Potato pancakes: Similar to potato pancakes, potato pancakes are a regional specialty. They are made from grated potatoes and also served with apple sauce or herb quark.
Lard cake: These small, deep-fried dough balls are sweet and delicious. Sprinkled with powdered sugar, they are a real treat.
Don't forget to try a sip of cider or beer to round off the culinary experience!
