The Travemünde Week is an exciting maritime event that takes place annually in the Bay of Lübeck. Sailors from all over the world meet here for exciting regattas at world-class level. But the Travemünde Week is more than just sailing - it is also a festival with a lot of heart.
Sailing highlights and regattas: Travemünde Week offers a variety of sailing competitions in almost 40 boat classes. Over 800 boats and around 2,500 active sailors take part. The sporting highlights extend over ten days and attract sailing enthusiasts from all over the world.
Family festival and entertainment: In addition to the regattas, Travemünde Week is a festival for the whole family. On the Strandallee and in the Erdinger beer garden there is street and art theater as well as a wide range of culinary delights. In the evenings, the Holsten Beach Arena, the NDR media tent and the Tornadowiese are transformed into a stage for live music by cult and cover bands as well as up-and-coming artists.
The grand finale: On the last Sunday of the Travemünde Week, an impressive fireworks display will bring the event to a fitting close.
Historical roots: The origins of Travemünde Week go back to a competition between the Hamburg merchants Hermann Wentzel and Hermann Dröge in 1889. Since then, the event has grown steadily and attracts almost a million visitors every year.
