Kirmes, also known as Kirchweih, is a fair or an outdoor festival that is usually organized for charitable purposes. The term comes from the Dutch language and is made up of "kerk" (church) and "mis" (fair). It originally referred to a mass and a patron saint's festival, which was celebrated on the anniversary of the founding of a church or in honor of the patron saint.
Michelbach is a district of Schmelz in the district of Saarlouis (Saarland), Germany. Michelbach lies in a remote valley, away from the Prims river and is surrounded by hills.
The Michelbacher Kirmes takes place at the Michelbach sports field and is organized by the Michelbach village council & TuS Michelbach. It is a traditional event that is sure to provide lots of fun and entertainment.
