There are several rose festivals in Germany, but the rose festival in Steinfurth is one of the most popular: around 40,000 people follow the scent of roses every two years and pay a visit to Germany's oldest rose village. The rose parade with its decorated floats is the big highlight. The queen of flowers is honored at the Rose Festival in Steinfurth.
In 1949, folk festivals were organized everywhere as part of a German-American "Good Neighbour Week", including in the then still independent municipality of Steinfurth, now a district of the health town of Bad Nauheim. Combined with the first post-war rose show, which was intended to build on the rose flower shows that had been held since 1912, this festival was so well received by visitors that this success was the cause and at the same time the birth of the Steinfurth Rose Festival, which was held annually from then on.
