The Open Ohr Festival (OOF) at the Mainz Citadel has been an annual themed youth culture festival with discussion forums, workshops, cabaret and live concerts as well as a tent camp since 1975.
As a political cultural festival, the OPEN OHR Festival is a ray of hope in the commercial festival landscape. The combination of music, theater, cabaret, discussions and workshops on a current topic over four days is unique in Germany. Friends of the OPEN OHR Festival formed a non-profit association in September 1994. The aim is to preserve OPEN OHR as a political cultural festival, to defend the autonomy of the project group that designs the program and to secure the Citadel as a festival venue.
