Today, the Maschsee is not only a popular water sports and recreation area, but also a leased fish farm. The fish caught include pike, perch and carp, which are traditionally sold on the lake at Christmas and New Year's Eve. Hanover has been celebrating the Maschsee Festival, which lasts several weeks, since 1986. The initial 70,000 visitors have now grown to more than two million.
Vacation feeling in the city, maritime flair in the middle of the city! The Maschseefest gives vacations an international stage. Over 19 days, visitors have the opportunity to take a culinary and artistic trip around the world at Germany's largest maritime festival.
The culinary offerings at the festival are one of the highlights.
