Celebration of the devotion of Hünkar Haci Bektas-i Veli - Alevitische Gemeinde Hamm und Umgebung e.V. Every year from August 16 to 18 in the city of Hacıbektaş, about 100 km south of Ankara, the commemoration of Hünkar Hacı Bektaş Veli takes place with a variety of cultural events, such as lectures, concerts and religious ceremonies (Cem service) and Semah rituals.
Hacı Bektaş Veli was the founder of Anatolian Alevism. The word "Bektaşi" is derived from his name. According to tradition, he was born in 1209 in Horasan near Nişabur (in Iran) and descended from the family of Mohammed Ali (Evlad-ı Resul) in the 17th generation. He is said to have been taught by Hoca Ahmet Yesevi in Turkistan. This is how Hacı Bektaş Veli came into contact with Islamic mysticism. Hacı Bektaş is said to have been commissioned by Lokman Perende, a follower of Ahmet Yesevi, to spread mystical ideas among the people of Anatolia, regardless of their origin.
Thanks to his tolerance, love of humanity, wisdom and miraculous powers, he was very popular with the people of Anatolia, who were oppressed by the Seljuk rulers and generals of the time. Hacı Bektaş was the savior of these oppressed and persecuted people in Anatolia. His teaching was also the way of life of the poor.
