For four days in mid-June, everything in Langen revolves around "Ebbelwoi" (apple wine) - the national drink of Hesse. The carousels and stalls, restaurants and cozy taverns are all abuzz with activity. Ebbelwoi is tapped at the Vierröhrenbrunnen fountain early on Friday evening, followed by the Ebbelwoidaaf and the coronation of the Ebbelwoi King or Queen.
It has been celebrated on the last weekend in June in Langen without interruption since 1974. The Ebbelwoifest has existed since 1974 and would be unthinkable without the commitment of the Verkehrs- und Verschönerungsverein.
Before that, there was the Heimatfest in Langen, which originated in 1936.
Since then, cider has been flowing from the Vierröhrenbrunnen fountain on festival days.
The people of the old town cultivate their very special hospitality with rustic "Heckenwirtschaften", which are a real insider tip for exploring the soul of Langen.
Whether brilliant fireworks, Ebbelwoidaaf, Bachgassenmarkt, Frühschoppen, party or carousel ride - the Ebbelwoifest is a unique folk festival for all generations.
