On February 10, 1944, a decree was issued establishing that the Military Aviation Arm was elevated to the level of an Armed Force. Finally, on February 10, 1992, by Presidential Decree, this day was officially established as the Mexican Air Force Day.
The commemoration of this date aims to celebrate the creation of this air force and to reflect on the importance and role of this group of professionals in the nation. This is due to the fact that, for more than a century, the Mexican Air Force has guaranteed the peace and security of the country's inhabitants, acting in important rescue missions and fighting against crime and external threats.
According to its antecedents, we find that in 1910, Alfredo Moissant's aviation company arrived in Mexico. The demonstration of the company's flights served as inspiration for the creation of a program, which in the future would be the basis for the creation of the new military branch. Years later, on February 5, 1915, Venustiano Carranza issued the decree for the creation of the Mexican Aviation Arm. The Ministry of Communications and Public Works consolidated the taxiing area and built the first hangar. This is how the Balbuena National Aerodrome was created.
