The pilgrimage of San Eugenio (also known as pilgrimage of the Acorn) is a festive celebration in Madrid every November 15. The center is the hermitage of El Cristo de El Pardo (located near the current convent of El Cristo). The pilgrimage tradition stems from the day that royal permission was given to collect acorns from the numerous oak trees around the Royal Site of El Pardo. This custom gave rise to the pilgrimage, which has its origins in the middle of the 17th century. It is the last rural pilgrimage in Madrid of the year (the first is that of San Blas).
