The origin of the Fiestas de San Froilán, held in October in the city of Lugo, dates back to 1754. Since then, they have become one of the most important festive events in Galicia.
During the first fortnight of October, Lugo celebrates the San Froilán Festival, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. Within the program, two of the festive days stand out above all: October 5, when the religious acts in honor of the patron saint San Froilán take place; and the following Sunday, the so-called O Domingo das Mozas, dedicated to the exaltation of the traditional costume and Galician folklore. During these days, the streets of the city are filled with parades of "cabezudos", brass bands, street markets and magic and juggling shows.
