This date (Día Interamericano de la Radiodifusión) was born in Mexico after a meeting of broadcasters from 20 countries, who on October 4, 1946 agreed to create the Inter-American Association of Broadcasting (Asociación Interamericana de Radiodifusión or AIR), an organization that brings together all radio and television stations in the Americas. The main function of the organization is to defend freedom of expression.
Thus, the aforementioned date was selected to commemorate every year the broadcasting, a proposal that has been fulfilled in all the American nations with special programs with absolute regularity, as it is an imposition of the Statutes of the Inter-American Association of Broadcasting.
