The Virgen de los Llanos is a Marian invocation of the Virgin Mary. She is the patron saint of the Spanish city of Albacete, and of the diocese of Albacete, being venerated in the Cathedral of San Juan de Albacete. Her feast day is celebrated on September 8.
The Albacete Fair, declared of International Tourist Interest, is held in honor of the Virgen de Los Llanos, the patron saint of Albacete. Every September 7, at the beginning of the fair, the replica of the image of the Virgin, which is normally housed in the town hall, is moved in a parade that departs from the Avenida de España to a chapel located in the Redondeles Feriales. All this after the opening of the Puerta de Hierros. The festivity of the Virgen de Los Llanos is celebrated on September 8. At the end of the big festival, on September 17, the replica is returned in procession to the town hall.
