An oceanologist is a professional who practices oceanology, a scientific discipline that studies the seas and oceans and everything related to them. That is, their composition and structure, as well as the dynamics of these bodies of water, including physical processes such as tides and currents.
Since when has it been celebrated? Since 1963 when the Scripps Institution of Oceanography of La Jolla California donated a boat to the Faculty of Marine Sciences of the Autonomous University of Baja California, the launching takes place on May 18th, where it is instituted as the Oceanologist's Day.
