The Pope sets May 10 as the feast day of St. John of Avila, patron saint of the Spanish clergy.
The Pope has decreed the introduction in the General Roman Calendar of St. John of Avila, priest and doctor of the Church and patron of the Spanish secular clergy, on May 10, which implies that he should be inscribed in the liturgical Books for the celebration of the Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours and published by the Episcopal Conferences.
Francis has also introduced in the General Roman Calendar St. Gregory of Narek, abbot and doctor of the Church, on February 27 and St. Hildegard of Bingen, virgin and doctor of the Church, on September 17.
