This celebration reminds us how vital trees are to the existence of other species on Earth. As the largest plants on the planet, they give us oxygen, stabilize the soil and support the world's wildlife. They provide humans with materials for tools, crafts and construction. The "Day of the Tree" is celebrated in Colombia on April 29 (it began to be celebrated on October 12, but a 1941 decree decided to change its date).
Today is a day dedicated to planting trees in different places, to restore ecosystems, mitigate the effects of climate change and make a call to combat deforestation and indiscriminate logging.
