Over the past 100 years, Kherson has been occupied by fascists twice. The first time by the Germans (during World War II), the second time by the Russians (in 2022).
Day of the liberation of Kherson from German fascist invaders on March 13, 1944 and November 11, 2022 from the Russian fascist invaders. In 1944 the units of the 28th army completely seized the city literally in 8 hours. On the approaches to and in Kherson the enemy lost more than 800 soldiers and officers, and a lot of military equipment. In 2022, in a brilliant operation of the AFU, the result was no less overwhelming for the enemy.
Along with the residents of Kherson, who celebrated the liberation of their city from the Russian occupiers on November 11, people in the streets of other Ukrainian cities and even abroad rejoiced over the success of the AFU on that day. Ukrainian Kherson had been under Russian occupation since March 2022. And, after nine months of Russian presence, the first AFU units returned to the city, the national blue and yellow flags were once again raised over the city, and in the evening the locals staged a grand celebration that lasted several days in a row. Already on November 14, the President of Ukraine visited the city.
