Seersucker, also known as crinkled chintz, is a very popular summer fabric in the southern states of America.
National Seersucker Day is an annual tradition of the US Congress when senators wear clothes made from seesucker. It was started by Republican Senator Trent Lott of Mississippi in 1996. Former Senator Trent Lott of Mississippi started the tradition “Seersucker Thursday”. He wanted to bring a “little southern charm” to the U.S. Capitol.
