The peanut butter cookies draw their name from their main ingredient: peanut butter. The cookies are light brown in colour and have a “cross” shape on top, formed when the dough is pierced with a fork. The cookie originated in the United States, its development dating back to the 1910s. It was not until the early 1930s that peanut butter was listed as an ingredient in the cookies. In fact, today it is the second most favourite cookie of the American families across the United States of America.
Jerky is lean trimmed meat that has been cut into strips and dried to prevent spoilage. Normally, this drying includes the addition of salt to prevent bacteria growth before the meat has finished the dehydrating process. The word "jerky" derives from the Quechua word ch'arki which means "dried, salted meat".
