Munich Spring Festival
Munich Spring Festival is held on April 25. Begins on the Friday of the third full week in April. This event in the third decade of the month April is annual.
The first spring festival was opened on April 3, 1965 by Mayor Albert Bayerle, who emphasized at a press conference that "we deliberately refrained from tapping the barrel - as is the custom at the opening of the Oktoberfest." At that time, the spring festival served "primarily to amuse children and young people".
This spring festival is often affectionately referred to as the "Kleine Wiesn". So in a way, just think of the Oktoberfest and scale it down. This festival takes place at a beautiful time of year in Munich; the weather is warmer and the city is blooming in beautiful colors. The spring festival lasts just over two weeks and takes place on Munich's Theresienwiese. Visitors can expect great drinks, food and entertainment. There are rides and special family days for those with young children.
