World Lupus Day
World Lupus Day is held on May 10. This event in the first decade of the month May is annual.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease. There’s an estimated five million people living with lupus worldwide. Lupus can be a tricky disease because of its complexity. Its symptoms can be confusing because the disease impacts every patient differently. One of the reasons lupus is so mysterious and complex is that there is no known cause for what triggers the symptoms. Doctors treat lupus according to the symptoms that patients show in order to cure or lessen symptoms occurring at that moment.
Since 2004, lupus organizations around the globe have conducted activities on May 10 to raise awareness and educate the public about the symptoms and health effects of lupus. Together we can make lupus an international health priority and to ensure that people with lupus around the world are diagnosed and treated effectively.
